Kingman Turquoise Jewelry
This pendant was designed and handmade by Skylar Glandon here at Stagecoach. It has a distinctive design, unlike anything that I have seen before. Skylar cut this in the shape of a shield and added small silver balls. The background has texturing that was added using a specialized jewelry hammer. After hammering, Skylar oxidized this background to create contrast. The darkened texturing gives this pendant a crude, almost archaic style. There are small silver balls that were added randomly to this background. While not apparent by looking, this soldering process was difficult. Each small silver ball had to be soldered individually. Such tiny round objects tend to move while being soldered and quick adjustment is often necessary. Great care is required when soldering so many small pieces to a single piece of jewelry.
This pendant has a bright blue Kingman Turquoise stone set in the upper-righthand corner. It is typical in most turquoise jewelry to see the stone set directly in the middle. However, the offset stone works well?here and adds to the riveting elements in this pendant. The Kingman Turquoise stone is a pleasing blue color with a light-yellow matrix. This stone adds a splash of color to this otherwise rustic pendant. This stone is 7/16" wide and 1/2" tall.
When designing this turquoise pendant, Skylar Glandon envisioned a contemporary native style. Part of the inspiration behind this piece was an indigenous warrior mask, something of great fascination to Skylar. This is undoubtedly a unique, one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry. You will never see another turquoise pendant quite like this!
This turquoise pendant is quite large at 1 3/8" wide and roughly 2" long, including the bail. This size ensures that it will be noticed by all and will be a great centerpiece for your outfit. The uniqueness of this piece will certainly draw comments from those around you.
